Accountable Persons

Overview

This area of the consultation on implementing the new regime for occupied higher-risk buildings relates to the accountable person(s) and the principal accountable person.

As part of the Building Safety Act 2022 (the Act), we have defined the dutyholder in occupation as the accountable person. The accountable person will be responsible for compliance with the new, more stringent regulatory regime for their higher-risk building or the part of the building they are responsible for.
